Chantal Fortune is a Collector, Dealer and Proprietor of Fortune’s Antiques. She has just opened an Antique & Fancy Goods shop in the historic village of Taghmon, County Wexford, Ireland.
She is also an Interior Decorator and is restoring an old House and Gardens above and at the back of the shop, where she lives with her two son’s Ruben & Elvis, dog and keeps hens. She fell in love with the house the moment she saw it and knew it was the right place to buy, the house is a fine early Irish Georgian townhouse built in 1736, it has many original features including a good example of an early 18th century staircase. The old butcher shop in the house is a 19th century addition with a traditional shopfront.
Chantal has a great passion for all things old and beautiful. She is charming, charismatic and has an aesthetically pleasing eye for interiors. Chantal studied Antiques and Fine Arts at The Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers, Dublin, Ireland. Wrote her Thesis on “Antique Irish Lace” and very cleverly won “Most Enthusiastic Student of the Year”.
She studied Interior Design at the Interior Design Academy of Ireland.
Also Fashion Design and again won “Fashion Student of the Year”. Did her A-levels in Art, History of Art & English Literature. Attended boarding school in both England and India.
She is actively involved with Arklow Pottery and keeping the memory alive through social media and promoting the history of it and the importance as one of our National Crafts. She owns a wonderful collection of Arklow Pottery and is cataloguing the early back stamps and its social & design history.
